You & Life – Superb Moral Story

Once an Emperor called upon all of his wise men and asked them, ” Is there any magical saying which works in every situation, in every circumstances, in every place and in every time. In every joy, every sorrow, every defeat and every victory? One answer for all questions? Something which can help me when none of you is available to advise me? “

All the Emperor’s advisers were baffled by the question. They all agreed on one solution on the suggestion of a learned scholar.Who gave them a note to be given to the Emperor.

And the note was to be opened whenever the the Emperor was in trouble.

Just a few days after, he was attacked by the neighboring country. The Emperor and his army fought bravely but were still losing the battle & the Emperor was trying to run away on his mount. The enemies were following him getting closer and closer. Suddenly the Emperor found himself standing at the end of the road – that road was not going anywhere. Underneath there was a rocky valley thousand feet deep. If he jumped into it, he would be finished…and he could not return because it was a small road…the sound of enemy’s horses was approaching fast. The Emperor became restless. There seemed to be no way.

Then he remembered the note given to him by his loyal advisers and he opened it. It read “THIS TOO SHALL PASS”

The Emperor read it , again & again. Suddenly something struck him- Yes ! This too will pass. Only a few days ago, I was enjoying my rule. I was the mightiest of all the Emperors. Yet today, the Empire and all its pleasures have gone. I am here trying to escape from enemies. Like those days of luxuries have gone, this day of danger too will pass. A calm came on his face. He kept standing there. The place where he was standing was full of natural beauty.

The revelation of the message had a great effect on him. He relaxed and forgot about those following him. After a few minutes he realized that the noise of the horses and the enemy coming was receding. They moved into some other part of the mountains and were nowhere near him.

The Emperor was very brave. He reorganized his army and fought again. He defeated the enemy and regained his empire. When he returned to his empire after victory, he was received with much fanfare. The whole capital was rejoicing in the victory.

Everyone was in a festive mood. Flowers were being showered on Emperor from every house, from every corner. For a moment the Emperor said to himself,” I am one of the bravest and greatest Emperors. It is not easy to defeat me. With all the reception and celebration he saw an ego emerging in him.

At that moment something clicked his mind & he opened the note and read it again: “THIS TOO SHALL PASS”.

He became silent. His face went through a total change – from the egoist he moved to a state of utter humbleness. If this too is going to pass, it is not yours. The defeat was not yours, the victory is not yours. You are just a watcher. Everything passes by. We are witnesses of all this. Life comes and goes. Happiness comes and goes. Sorrow comes and goes.

Now as you have read this story, just sit silently and evaluate your own life. This too will pass. Think of the moments of joy and victory in your life. Think of the moment of Sorrow and defeat. Are they permanent ? They all come and pass away.

Moral: This life is so temporary, all its enjoyments & sorrows will finish one day. The only thing which will remain is our deeds and how we acted during the times of prosperity and adversity.

Case of The Missing 5 Million Dollars

A big time Gangster finds out that his personal accountant, Robert, has cheated him out of 5 million bucks. His accountant is deaf. That was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that Robert would hear nothing that he might have to testify about in court.

When the Gangster goes to confront Robert about his missing $5 million, he takes along his lawyer who knows sign language.

The Gangster tells the lawyer, “Ask him where the 5 million bucks are, that he stole from me.”

The lawyer, using sign language, asks Robert where the money is. Robert signs back, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

The lawyer tells the Gangster , “He says he doesn’t know what you are talking about.”

The Gangster pulls out a pistol, puts it to Robert’s temple and says, “Ask him again!”

The lawyer signs to Robert , “He’ll kill you if you don’t tell him.”

Robert signs back, “OK. You win! The money is in a black bag, hidden in the cupboard at my nephew’s house.!”

The Gangster  asks the lawyer, “What did he say?”

The lawyer replies, “He says you don’t have the guts to pull the trigger.”

Woman who didn’t want the baby

A worried woman went to her Doctor and said :  ‘Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help!  My baby is not even 1 yr. old and I’m pregnant again. I don’t want kids so close together.’  So the doctor said: ‘Ok, and what do you want me to do?’  She said: ‘I want you to perform an abortion, and I’m counting on your help with this.’  The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady:  ‘I think I have a better solution for your problem. It’s less dangerous for you too.’  She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.

Then he continued: ‘You see, in order for you not to have to take care of 2 babies at the same time, let’s kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we’re going to kill one of them, it doesn’t matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.

The lady was horrified and said: ‘No doctor! How terrible! It’s a crime to kill a child!  ‘I agree’, the doctor replied. ‘But you seemed to be ok with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.  The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point. He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that’s already been born and one that’s still in the womb. The crime is the same!

Moral: Abortion is the same as killing. No matter the name given to it.

Mind Press's Prosperity Interview with Mickey Mikeworth

Mickey Mikeworth believes that the way you solve a problem will decide how much wealth you will hold on to and that is why she has dedicated her life to teaching a prosperity message. She has been an active educator and speaker for 26 years and specializes in the ideas and actions surrounding prosperity. Her latest project "10 Habits of Prosperously Minded People” is in full swing with a 2012 national speaking tour that is both dynamic and empowering.

Tell me about the ideas you’re sharing on prosperity:
The old wealth models are dead and our economy cannot sustain the old paradigm. It is time to think and act differently. I am here to give people some new ways to look at some old tools.

The first is to re-look at a very misunderstood word called Prosperity. As a definition means to multiply and regenerate and it is an action word. When people understand the value of changing the way the invest resources into the world we start to see dramatic changes. Your capital and resources should be invested into projects and people that can regenerate the investment back into the world. When you see it in action you have a very powerful outcome and we have ALL seen this in our lives. .

How can the everyday person start being more prosperous?
The first lesson I teach in that money only has one purpose- it buys CHOICE: it will gives everyone a choice of what they eat, how they dress, and how far they will be able to travel. Money cannot see your race, age, or gender, and it follows the same rules for everyone.

Who doesn’t like more choices?
The ways in which we spend money also GIVES choice.
Do you really want the banks to have 25% of your choices in interest on your credit cards or would you like 25% more of your cash to make different choices with?

What is the incentive for acting in these ten habits?
Most people already want to achieve these habits and most people I have met are already working on them at some level. One example is defining your core values. I see people trying to pin down that set of questions all the time but they do not know how to put those values into a realistic action plan.
I have been doing private consulting for 10 years and people that have these unique 10 prosperity based habits, assimilate the actions these habits create, and use the problem solving skills that prosperity minded people have will use resources more efficiently, get things done at a faster pace, and they have more personal and professional satisfaction.

What made you dedicate yourself to teaching prosperity as message?
I teach prosperity as an action plan not just as a message. Most people already work on many of these concepts but they are unable to put the pedal to the metal and make real headway on these concepts.
I see bits and pieces of this message all over but I have never seen a list this complete before on what are the exact habits the people have taken on and how they can put those habits into defined action steps and thought processes.

I was once a welfare mom struggling to make end meet and I know firsthand the inside despair that can come from being broke every day. I also came from a public health educational background and I got a firsthand look at what an impact education and information can make in the health of a family. Small actions can add up to BIG payoffs.

In prosperity a small seed from a few people can grow an orchard rather quickly. I encourage people to gather their network and create planned orchards instead of just thinking of themselves as a single seed.

How do people connect with you on these ideas?
I am teaching on this subject constantly live and electronically and I am touring in 2012.

DON’T SAY WE DIDN’T GIVE YOU A HEADS-UP!

Mercury Retrograde will soon be upon us again. So here is a heads-up on what will be happening. Mercury, the planet that rules Communication will be going Retrograde from August 2 and will go direct on August 26.

We always want to know in advance when this happens so we can prepare and we thought that this might help you out too.
With advance notice of this planetary change, you too can try to understand the crazy things that can happen during this time and help yourself stay sane!

Most everyone feels a Retrograde but we just don't know what is going on. Have you ever noticed that during certain times of the year things in your life just seem to be so hectic, confusing, or just not making sense? Well around and during a retrograde we can see a lot of mishaps occur, communication, electrical, mechanical and personal breakdowns also happen frequently during this time. Mercury goes Retrograde 3 times a year.

If you feel like this energy is encompassing your life during a Retrograde, we have found that the best thing that you can do for yourself is step back for a moment..stay calm and focused and then try to analyze the situation. A Retrograde period allows you to slow down and see the opportunity that we being given….the opportunity to re-do things, figure out and change the situation, and really take in the opportunity to plan something rather than react.

It is funny how many people call us during a Mercury Retrograde because they are bombarded with unusual "I can't believe this is happening" situations and "what do I do" questions!

During a retrograde, it is not a good time to enter into any serious contracts, make promises, start any new ventures or projects, cosmetic surgery or try a new haircut, buy electronics, cars and most of all...make any serious life changes! My motto during a Mercury Retrograde is, " If it is a good idea now, it will be good idea later...slow down and make a decision when you can think clearly".

Over the years we have come to embrace these Retrograde situations that are presented to me and we really do try look at them as an opportunity. Sometimes it can take the next Retrograde period for you to see things the way they were meant to be or even work out in your favor, but in the end...if you have done all of your homework...the problem works itself out...and usually for the right reasons too!

Treat boys and man as an equal as well !

This is really a new perspective about a boy/man.

I think everyone might have read abt Mom’s, Wife’s and Girl’s.

Its time to learn something about Man/Boy.

A boy/man is one of the most beautiful creations of God.

He starts compromising at very tender age. He sacrifices his chocolates for his sister.

Later he sacrifices his mischief for just a smile on his parents face.

He sacrifices his health for his wife and children by working late nights. He builds their future by taking huge loans and then repaying them for the life time. Thus he sacrifices full youth for his wife and children without any complain.

Believe me he struggles a lot but still has to hear the music (scolding) of Mother, wife and his boss.

Yet every mother, wife and boss tries to have control over him.

Finally his life ends up by compromising for others happiness. He is that creature of God who no one can compete with.

Respect every boy/man in your life. You will never know what he has sacrificed for you.

Just extend your hand when he needs it Boys Also Have Emotions. Respect them.

Benefits of Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the use of physical means like light, heat, cold and exercise to cure diseases or injury. Physiotherapy is employed to help prevent, relieve or correct conditions that interfere with an individual’s physical ability to perform normal duties. Physiotherapy to an individual is administered by heath care experts called Physiotherapists. Physiotherapy is greatly beneficial in treating a number of ailments and disabilities. It is normally employed in treating heart and lung diseases and many kinds of paralysis and muscular weaknesses like strokes and multiple sclerosis. Physiotherapy plays important role in amputations, fractures and other injuries and in various orthopedic conditions. With the help of right physiotherapy, a disabled person may lead a constructive and creative life.

Many types of equipment, exercises and self-help tools are employed to help the disabled individual. Radiant heat lamps, electric heating pads, diathermy, hydrotherapy are used to apply heat which relieves pain, improves blood circulation and relaxes the sore muscles. Cold, when used immediately after an injury, reduces pain, hemorrhage, and swelling. Ultraviolet radiation attacks germs and helps in the healing of certain skin afflictions or disorders. Ultrasound is employed to treat inflammatory conditions of the joints, muscles, and nerves, and painful amputation stumps.

Physical workout helps to maintain and improve body function and posture. Physiotherapy increases muscle tone, strength, and also endurance level. Some workouts can be performed by the patient himself. For others, the patient may require the assistance of the therapist. Often mechanical devices like, parallel bars, exercise cycles, pulleys, weights and dumbbells are employed. Self-help tools like splints, braces, crutches and wheelchairs help disabled people carry on with their daily activities. Physiotherapists train people to use these aids and instill confidence in them so that they can perform their daily tasks without difficulty or embarrassment.

Men and women, who want to pursue a career in physiotherapy, may choose one of the three kinds of educational programs. The first one is a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy. The remaining two programs are for those people who already have a bachelor’s degree in some other discipline. Physiotherapy programs consist of courses in anatomy, clinical medicine, physiology, psychology, therapeutic exercises and deft use of physical and electrical devices.

Physiotherapists invariably are employed in places like, clinics, hospitals, schools for the handicapped, private offices, academic institutions, and home health establishments and nursing homes. In the United States, Physiotherapists have to be compulsorily licensed before they are allowed to practice.

Enzo Ferrari's - the Legend's Earliest Years

In the galaxy of motoring superstars, it can be said that no star burns brighter than Ferrari – maker of many of the world’s greatest “supercars”, motor sporting giant, bearer of perhaps the most famous emblem and marquee in the motoring world.  For more than almost ¾ of a century, Ferrari the automobile brand and branding has become an icon similar to that of a rock star of champion athlete.  Yet long before there were Ferrari classic automobiles there was Ferrari the man.  Long after his demise the legend of Enzo Ferrari still burns as brightly and vividly as ever –sentimentality, unshakable stubbornness yet focused tenacity and yet not the least a measure of mystery and almost intrigues.

It is more than clear with the beauty of hindsight that Enzo Ferrari was not born to have an ordinary life time.  From the beginning his story was spiced with drama – even in the very story of his birth.  He was actually born February 18, 1898 in Modena in northern Italy.  In the midst of a heavy winter blizzard Enzo’s father could not immediately reach the local registers office to record the new birth. Thus the infant’s arrival was not formally registered until two days later.  Even after February 20, 1898 was listed as Enzo Asnekmo Ferrari’s official birthplace.

Enzo Ferrari came to relish the ultimate individualist.  Anyone and everyone who came into contact with this ambitious young man detected both by his manner, demeanor and attitude to life and issues that this was both an ambitious, focused and dedicated young man indeed.

As Ferrari, the auto maker and motor sporting giant, this man’s reputation grew almost to rival that of the aristocracy itself. Yet his family background was relatively low key, comfortable but not of the privileged upper classes.

Ferrari was lucky to some degree that his families were able to both support and groom his coming trade.  His father being wealthy enough to be one of the first people in Modena to own an actual automobile, when such things were rare in rural Italy.  The father added a motor repair works in his metalworking business and while working and helping in these workshops Enzo acquired some very basic skills and skill sets. While still reluctant to study engineering at school, he was obviously fascinated by the automobile.  By the time he was 13 he was learning to drive.  In September 1908, when he was ten years old, his father had taken him to nearby Bologna, where they lucky enough to view Felice Nazzaro’s Fiat winning the Coppa Florio road race.

This laid the very vision and working foundation to grow and thrive on in young Enzo Ferrari’s brain.  From then on it was clear and indelibly imprinted in his brain cells that motor sport and sporting would play the greatest part in his future life and endeavors.

Price of Love - A story that moves you !

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups and set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard.

As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls.

He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.

“Mister,” he said, “I want to buy one of your puppies.”

“Well,” said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, ”These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.”

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer.

“I’ve got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?”

“Sure,” said the farmer.

And with that he let out a whistle. “Here, Sally!” he called.

Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Sally followed by four little balls of fur.

The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence.

His eyes danced with delight.

As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse.

Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid.

Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up…

“I want that one,” the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy’s side and said, ”Son, you don’t want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would.”

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers.

In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Looking back up at the farmer, he said, ”You see sir, I don’t run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands.”

With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup.

Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

“How much?” asked the little boy… “No charge,” answered the farmer,”There’s no charge for love.”

The world is full of people who need somebody, who understands them.

Spirituality in Aruba

Aruba is a magical island with blue skies and sparkling beaches.  Aruba resorts are complemented by the natural beauty of turquoise Caribbean waters, pristine beaches and stunning panoramas.
Aruba is also an island bursting with religious and spiritual experiences.   Although most residents are Catholic, the island is filled with many nationalities living harmoniously side by side with various religious beliefs. Tourists are welcome at all houses of worship.

The picturesque Chapel of Alto Vista exudes tranquility on its dramatic setting above the sea. The chapel was the island's first Roman Catholic Church, built in 1750 and reconstructed in 1953.
The small, bright yellow chapel is reached by a winding road lined with white crosses marking the stations of the cross. For local Arubans especially, it is a special place for peace and contemplation.Santa Ana is a Roman Catholic church situated in Noord, not far from the downtown Oranjestad area. When it was constructed in 1776, Santa Ana church represented the island's second most important religious meeting place (the first being Alto Vista Chapel). The church was rebuilt two times, once in 1831 and again in 1886.

A final renovation to this historical site was accomplished in 1916. Today, the church is most famous for its solid oak, hand-carved altar, a work of art accomplished in classic neo-gothic design. The alter won an exhibition award in Rome in 1870, and was later given to Santa Ana Church by the Antonius church in Scheveningen, the Netherlands.

During your next Aruba all inclusive vacation, make sure to check out the spiritual side of the island!

Mind Press interview's Lew Marklin

This last week Mind Press caught up with Lew Marklin, former host of ADHDtv and host of the

new TV show Icon News, due out this fall 2011 on Dish Network and cable:

Mind Press: Good morning Mr. Marklin, good to have this opportunity to have you on the blog

Lew Marklin: Good morning, thank you for having me!

Mind Press: So, tell me about your new show Icon News

Lew Marklin: Well, it's a 30 minute celebrity Icon News show. Each week an Iconic figure

comes to our studio via Skype, and discusses issues that they have faced in the journey to

iconic status. It's a very fast and positive show and offers viewers an insight into the

celebrities lives, cultures, passions and offers answers to help people in today's world

find answers to overcome the challenges that our economy has put us all in.

Mind Press: Now when you say cultures, what exactly do you mean?

Lew Marklin: Icon News does not just cover Hollywood actors and actresses. The show covers

music, political figures, anything deemed Iconic in the grand scheme of things, but also, we

like to cover figures that maybe do not get the coverage from the other outlets. Our first

episode showcases, actor, Dominic Rains, who has two break out roles this year in The

Tacquadores and JINN. Dominic happens to live and work in Hollywood, but his amazing story

starts when he was born in Tehran Iran. The two movies are amazing films that will not get

mainstream credit because of their Middle Eastern roots and Muslim conotation, therefor we

set out to cover the films and bring this daytime TV star from General Hospital a coming out

party as a noteworthy film star.

Mind Press: Now religion, that's a tough subject to tackle, you have a strong Christian

base, how does that translate?

Lew Marklin: You know, it's funny that you ask that, and this episode was a great example,

because you have Dominic talking about two movies that are based in Islam, myself, the host,

who is a strong Christian believer, and then Dominic talks about his own faith as a Buddhist

and if that's not diverse enough for you, later in the show, we showcase Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad

who is a Hindu, born in Detroit MI. I love the diversity and believe that in this world,

nothing truly changes until people come to a place where they can just sit and listen to

each other. Walls of prejudice break down and the world becomes a more informed,

understanding and peaceful place, if not just a smarter place to raise our children!

Mind Press: So, this show is a much different show than ADHDtv, how did this all come

about?

Lew Marklin: Yes, this is very true. ADHDtv was a very fun project. I learned so much

from that opportunity, but in the end, we learn and grow and mature and grow up and that was

probably a lot of "ands." It was sort of a crazy show. News has always been in my heart,

but ADHDtv was sort of the craziness and humor working its way out of my system, and my

passion for journalism eventually surfaced in Icon News. A lot of eye brows raised with that

show because it was so edgy. It was really a man show that was billed as a late night news

spoof. We would literally laugh ourselves into hysteria at times, on set, and just had a

blast, but then there were some intense times and hard knock learning that took place and I

would do it all over again in a heart beat, but I like where I am at now.

Mind Press: Where does your fascination with news come from?

Lew Marklin: You know, It's sort of weird, when I was a kid, I had a brother in law that

worked network news for NBC. My dad always bragged about how great he was and how great NBC

was, so I sort of grew up fantasizing about it. He would pull out a tape recorder when I

was 2 years old and record me talking, all the way up through elementary school, then when I

was about ten or so, my friends and I would record these crazy news reports on cassette

tapes. God we must have had a hundred tapes piled everywhere with our crazy news skits.

Then we got a hold of a camcorder and started using that. I eventually went to school to

study Broadcast Journalism in Santa Barbara California and began interning at a local ABC TV

station, KEYT TV, running teleprompter and floor cams for live morning and evening news so

that I could see how everything works. 5 Years later I was a Producer and Senior Editor at

that station, but that is not where I wanted to stop on my journey and I knew that.

Mind Press: So you have a production background as well as an on air background?

Lew Marklin: Yes, that is correct. I have been a camera man, an Editor and now a producer.

Mind Press: How does that translate in what you are doing?

Lew Marklin: It has been a true God Send. I really wanted to take a pro active approach

into taking my future into my own hands. In the beginning, no one believed that I had what

it takes to be an on air talent. The opportunities were not opening up, so I decided to

take matters into my own hands and create the opportunities for myself. I also figured that

it would give me a fall back plan if things went wrong. I could still live a very

comfortable life as a Producer or even editor, if the bottom fell out on my on air dreams.

So I built my future on a rock, and now I play a very active role in the pre production,

Directing and post production phases of the project. So, to answer your question, it

translates very well!

Mind Press: Yes and I see that you produce several projects, besides the shows that you

star in, simultaneously. This must keep you very busy!

Lew Marklin: Absolutely, and yes, it keeps me busy and out of trouble!

Mind Press: What are some of the shows that you are working on now, and have worked on?

Lew Marklin: Well, hmmm, I almost have to check my own iMDB these days to remember, but

this year, I am producing a Christian TV show, entitled Arise & shine, that is slated to air

on Sky Angel Network, a new show called TwentySixMiles, starring John Schneider and Billy

Dee Williams is in the works and I have not received my paperwork, so I don't know what I

will be doing on that one yet, but we are looking forward to that. Then this last year or

two, I Co-Executive Produced on Ultimate Women Challenge, for LHP Productions and NBC

Universal. It is a Reality show that showcases 16 beautiful and talented female MMA

fighters who live and train together then duke it out to wear the crown. Then there is a

kids game show pilot, entitled That's Funny! starring Georgia Van Cuylenburg that we are

still working on. Going back a ways there are some talk shows, a hip hop music video show,

of course ADHDtv and a cooking show, Living Better with Steve Spitz, that should be airing

over on Ion this year.

Mind Press: Which do you like better, being the star or being the producer?

Lew Marklin: You know, on any given day, you might get a different answer. I have come to

like them both. Being a Producer is very challenging in a different way and I truly enjoy

taking a concept, branding it and watching it grow. I also like nurturing other on air

talents and watching them realize their dreams, but being on air is pretty cool. The

attention is fun and having the ultimate creative power is awesome!

Mind Press: What do you think is your most memorable moment thus far in your career?

Lew Marklin: You know, this may sound funny, but opening day 2004, of the Los Angeles

Dodgers. I was an intern at the time, working as a camera utility and editor. I worked at

the stadium 10 or more hours a day for almost 3 months before the actual baseball season

started, so the anticipation for opening day just grew and festered until I couldn't take it

anymore. I grew up a Dodgers fan, in Los Angeles, and this was like a dream come true for

the inner child in me. On opening day I met all of the announcers, then the players, some

other various celebs, then stood on the mound with a camera, next to 5 or 6 of the all time

great Dodgers Hall of Fame players while Fernando Valenzuela threw out the first pitch. I

tell ya, the hair on my neck stood on end at that moment and I almost got teary eyed. The

stadium was sold out and the crowd was absolutely nuts. I knew at that moment that I was

doing what I loved and was not even getting paid to do it!

Mind Press: There is so much more that we would love to ask you, but there just isn't

enough time or room on the blog. We can't wait to see the new show and wish you the best of

luck and hope to have you again soon!

Lew Marklin: Thank you, I really enjoyed the opportunity, and look forward to future chats!

Mind Press: Everyone, be watching for Icon News this fall on Dish Network and cable. You can sneak peek the show on You Tube at: http://www.youtube.com/user/IconNews

Inspiration

Get fit in Istanbul

Traveling is about seeing new sites, meeting people from different cultures and trying new experiences. Your new experiences may include eating snails and intestines for the first time. However, there are also things you can do while traveling that benefit your body and soul (not to imply that snails and intestines may not be the best for your body)

Istanbul is the ideal place to try new fitness activities. Below is an Istanbul guide to the Pilates, gyrotonics and yoga.

Pilates has been around for quite a while in Turkey. The first Pilates studio was opened by Judy Ataman in 1999 at Planet Health Club in Kuruçeşme. Now, there are almost as many Pilates studios as there are simit vendors! Pilates has become increasingly popular and it is a great way to tone your body and fix postural problems. Pilates is ideal for people who want to learn how their body works. A good Pilates teacher will teach their client all about anatomically correct movement and will explain any kind of postural problems the client may have and not be aware of.

Gyrotonics is another “new” fitness fad although it started almost 25 years ago. It is new in Turkey and was introduced it to Istanbulites 8 years ago. It is slowly catching on, and will be all the rage soon. It is a series of 3 dimensional movements with the goal of liberating the spine and thereby creating a more functional and responsive body. Gyrotonic is for the kind of person who likes to move organically and who learns through doing rather than “being taught”. It is also great for anyone with scoliosis or those of you who have suffered from a slipped disc in the past.

Yoga isn’t new and yet there are so many different kinds of yoga being taught that it seems like there is always something new and different to try. Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Bikram Yoga and Anusara Yoga are just some alternatives. If you are a person who likes to focus on the spiritual side of things, Yoga is the way to go. Just like with Pilates, there are almost as many yoga studios as there are types of Yoga. Try them all and see which one suits you the best.

Is it Safe to Go to or Live in Japan

Is It Safe To Go To or Live in Japan?

Whether a visit to Japan has been a lifelong dream, or your company is relocating you to Japan, chances are the radiation levels and possibility of future natural disasters have been looming on your mind. How safe is Japan now, anyway? Can you visit or move there now? Will it be safe to visit in the future?

• Travel to Japan

The World Health Organization (WHO) and other United Nations associated health regulators have stated that travel to Japan is safe.

While general travel to Japan has been deemed safe at this time, it is important to note that some areas should still be avoided. Besides areas directly surrounding the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, most areas have now recovered the use of most essential services. Travel to Tokyo is acceptable, but travel to more rural areas should be approached with caution.

Be aware that many travel insurance companies are denying coverage for recently booked travel to Japan. Trips booked since the earthquake on March 11 will likely not be covered, so it is important to make sure you'll be completing travel before spending money on the trip.

Verdict: With the exception of heavily affected areas, travel to Japan is safe.

• Moving to Japan

Unless you are planning on moving to a rural area of Japan very close to the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, or near the epicenter of the March 11 earthquake, moving to Japan is safe at this time. Despite media reports of increased radiation in food even as far as Tokyo, it's important to remember that the levels of radiation found in these foods were not unlike levels found naturally in other foods. Keep in mind, also, that foods that have been deemed to have unsafe levels of radiation in Japan are now restricted from distribution, so irradiated spinach or milk aren't going to accidentally hit the shelves of Japanese grocery stores.

If you are being relocated to Japan for business purposes, it is unlikely that your business would not be informed of the current conditions in the relevant area. If you feel unsure about the situation, it is best to contact the hotel or apartment manager. They will be well informed of the situation, and will be able to advise you as to whether the move would be wise at this time.

Verdict: Don't move to Fukushima or coastal areas close to the epicenter of the recent earthquake. Most other areas, aside from very rural areas heavily affected, are now safe.

Why Your Professors Should Be Your Best Friends in College

The influence professors have on every student's college is obvious. So since everyone can admit that professors are vital in the learning process, let's take a few minutes to realize just how little they are utilized. There are so many ways to get to know your professors better, and you need to take advantage of them. These relationships will have a trickle-down effect that can put you steps ahead of other students and potentially in the work force.

Go to office hours. Your professors will likely never know who you are until you introduce yourself. The simple fact of a teacher knowing who you are can have a huge impact on your grade and education. The best time to get to know a teacher is during their office hours. Find any reason to go to office hours, even if you have to pretend to ask for help on a topic you mastered long ago. During this time the professor is usually alone, so the one-on-one time will give you a great opportunity to make a good impression on your teacher. The next time the professor looks over the class roll, your name will automatically stick out and you will gain an immediate advantage.

Become a teaching assistant. This might be the most beneficial thing you can possibly do during your college career. The fact that a teacher trusts you and thinks highly enough of you to give you partial responsibility of his or her class will impress future employers and colleagues. You will develop a close relationship with the professor as you experience what it's like to be on the other side of the teacher-student relationship. As you help teach the course, you will gain a level of mastery in the class that few students do. Another added benefit is that most T.A. jobs pay decent money. The main goal is to cultivate a relationship with the professor that will be a valuable network down the road.

Do research with a professor. If you have a particular passion for a certain subject, find a position doing research for a professor. You will have the opportunity to work closely as an assistant on the professor's personal projects. This provides excellent exposure to the field in which the teacher specializes. You will receive exclusive advice and instruction from the professor that other students don't get. As with being a teaching assistant, you will form a stronger relationship with the professor and prove yourself to be a quality student with a desire to learn.

You will experience a lot of academic growth as you strive to become better acquainted with your professors. When the time comes to apply to that ultra-competitive graduate program or your first job, your relationships with your professors will come in handy. A solid letter of recommendation can be the deciding factor in these kinds of situations. You will be glad you went the extra mile to put yourself out there, and the opportunities will keep coming.

Top Ten Benefits of Being Bilingual

Why learning another language is worth your time.

  1. Improved cognitive ability — Learning another language challenges your intellect, requiring you to think of things in new ways. Perhaps the best way to keep you mind healthy is to keep it active and exercise it in new and exciting ways. Learning another language not only requires you to think extensively about the words you use, but how to form the correct sounds in your mouth.
  2. Greater understanding of English — If you are looking to increase your understanding of the grammar and structure of English, perhaps the best way is to leave it behind and learn another language. It didn’t matter how many times English teachers in high school tried to teach me about prepositions, gerunds, and adverbial clauses, I never quite got it. Learning another language requires you to dissect your language, twisting the phrases around until the sentence structure is correct.
  3. Being able to understand a foreign language — Perhaps the best advantage of being able to speak a foreign language is obvious. Walking out into the street, you can understand so much more of what is going on around you. I loved returning from Peru (where I learned Spanish) and watching Toy Story 3. I was able to understand every word when Buzz Lightyear was accidentally got set to the “Spanish mode.” I can also pick up bits of Portuguese and Italian if I listen closely.
  4. Increased cultural sensitivity — It is difficult to immerse yourself in the language of another without learning to love the people that speak it. Being able to read Don Quixote in the original Spanish gives you a completely different experience. Speaking another language helps you to more completely immerse yourself in another culture.
  5. Better employment options — According to Forbes.com, bilingual employees earn 1.7% - 4% more than their counterparts. With the globalization of business, the world has become much smaller. The demand for bilingual employees is destined to continue growing.
  6. Independence while abroad — Next time you go out galavanting on a global trip to Asia, it wouldn’t hurt knowing a little Japanese. Being able to communicate directly with others will eliminate the need for a translator. This not only cuts the cost significantly, but will grant you a more intimate experience immersing yourself in the culture.
  7. Helps you to have a keener ear — Learning another language demands that you listen keenly and distinguish between different words. Reproducing those sounds requires you to listen attentively to the sounds you, yourself are making.
  8. Graduate school — Though your GPA and test scores are important for getting into graduate school, many look at other qualifications as well. Speaking a second language distinguishes you from the crowd and shows your persistence. The study skills you pick up while becoming bilingual will also help you take on the increased workload of graduate school.
  9. To forge relationships with other people — Although people all over the world are learning English, it is a great show of respect to take the time to learn another language. Speaking the language with a native speaker is an excellent way to put them at ease and form friendships.
  10. You can have secret conversations — Although this doesn’t necessarily top the list, I remember one time when my sister and I talked about what we were going to get my dad for Father’s Day right in front of him. This benefit can easily be turned negatively but it has often served as discreet way of communicating.

There are huge benefits to learning another language. The experience not only helps you learn about other cultures, but also about yourself.

Natural Solutions for Radiation Exposure and Protection

Natural Solutions for Radiation Exposure and Protection

Radiation encourages the circulation of free radicals in the human body, which can result in DNA damage, cancer, and other health conditions. Currently, everyone on earth is exposed to some level of radioactive energy and it is essential that individuals take steps to counter this bombardment and to reduce the amount of exposure wherever possible.

Natural Ways Lower Radiation Levels

There are simple remedies that can be used to decrease the body's load of radiation from which almost anyone can benefit. Those who have concerns regarding their level of radiation exposure may wish to consider the following:

Introducing more chlorophyll-rich foods into one's daily diet is an excellent way for individuals to reduce their radiation levels. Chlorophyll rich foods include spirulina, blue-green algae, kelp and seaweed. Such herbs and plants contain iodine and a wide variety of rich minerals that prevent radiation from harming the thyroid gland.

Eating antioxidant-rich foods such as sweet potatoes, yams, blueberries, blackberries, and cherries is also a tasty way to lower the body's radiation levels. Antioxidant vitamins such as D, E, and C also help to combat free radical damage from radiation or other sources.

Natural Remedies for Radiation Exposure

Although chemicals and drugs are sometimes used to counteract the effects of radiation, there is also a vast array of natural remedies that can assist in preventing radiation damage, as well as help to reduce radiation levels in exposed persons.

Naringin

A bioflavonoid found primarily in citrus fruits such as lemons and grapefruit, Naringin is an aggressive scavenger of free radicals, therefore it may also significantly reduce damage caused by radiation. In addition, citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, which is also an antioxidant.

Melatonin

A sleep remedy used for insomnia for hundreds of years, melatonin has been proven to reduce oxidative organ damage and injury. Research suggests that there are many benefits associated with the used of melatonin in combination with other therapies for cancer patients. According to the Journal of Pineal Research, melatonin was also shown to protect against damage caused by ionizing radiation in laboratory rats. Melatonin can be purchased at health food or vitamin stores and the recommended daily dose is 1-3 mg. However, as this supplement is a remedy for insomnia, it is not advisable for one to use melatonin when he or she needs to remain alert.

Iodine

Iodine offers a high level of protection against radiation-based free radicals and the damage they cause. The current therapeutic dosing recommendations depend one's age, weight, and level of exposure; however, general guidelines are 130 mcg for adults and adolescents and 65 mcg for children 3-12 years of age. 16 mcg of iodine is the recommended dose for babies up to 3 years of age. When used in conjunction with a potassium supplement, iodine protects the thyroid gland for up to thirty days, but this protection will only last for 24 hours in absence of the potassium supplement. In addition, if exposure has already occurred, iodine is capable of removing radiation lodged in a person's thyroid gland.

Tetracycline

Tetracycline, a frequently prescribed antibiotic, helps to protect human neurons against the damaging effects of radiation-induced apoptosis. The results of many scientific studies suggest that certain derivatives of tetracycline such as cephalosporin, ceftriaxone, minocycline, and doxycycline can even protect neurons from apoptotic death.

Calcium Bentonite Clay

Used for decades to clear up cystic acne, calcium bentonite clay has the ability to counter attack damage from ionized radiation in humans. This clay can be purchased online or at health food stores and should be used as a body scrub for optimum results. The mixture can be applied over all areas of a person's skin and hair, although one must avoid getting it in his or her eyes. It should be left in place for ten minutes and then vigorously scrubbed off. In cases of acute exposure this process can be repeated every 6 hours for the first full day.

Automotive Geniuses and their Creations

History has shown us that once a new product, machine or gadget is introduced and accepted into the market, others start playing with it, modifying it and many times improving the original. The automobile is no exception, after the Model T and all its variations were accepted by the public many other geniuses started to make changes and invent new things to add on to it.

The cars we drive today are nothing like the original models, they have evolved through almost one hundred years of history. During this time many people made contributions, some small some large but they all put in a grain of sand to create the cars we ride today. Car history is not only about speed and power; it is about comfort and accessories. Since boys will always be boys the first changes and improvements were related to engines, suspension and gears.

If you go back in time and look at automobile inventions of the past, it is possible to find an electric car as far back as 1834 and a hybrid in 1920. It is said that many of these inventions were hidden and kept away from the news so the internal combustion engine would develop and the great European and American car manufacturers could grow and conquer the Earth with their huge gasoline guzzling beasts.

Once the internal combustion engine was king and it was established that we would use them forever, geniuses started to modify them and convert them into muscle cars or super-fast cars. In 1940, a man named Tucker adapted a helicopter turbine to a car and raced it on the flats in Death Valley, yet even before that a car with 1250 horse power that reached the amazing speed of 270 miles per hour was built, ordinary people with great minds and even greater dreams accomplished these feats.

Most of us only dream of driving at those speeds and probably would not do it if we had the chance to. Speed and power are not the only great innovations and inventions affecting cars, there are others that we do use and appreciate every day. Power steering makes our life much easier and so do air conditioning during the summer and heat during the winter. These may seem simple things compared to turbo engines and cars racing at 300 miles per hour, but they sure make our life easier.

Innovation in the automobile world never stops though, there are always new things popping. The car that parks itself, the electric eye that will stop the car if it is about to run onto something while backing up; these are examples that help us drive better and safer every day. Cruise control, fog lights, winches, special off road suspensions and so many other things that we consider normal and ordinary today were one day new and innovating.

Just sit back and remember the day you watched television in color for the first time. It was marvelous wasn't it? Today, forty years later it is nothing, we are watch9ing disasters and shows around the world live and in high definition, what is next? Only the dreamers, creators and innovators of the world know it.

Searching online at Kanetix.ca to compare quotes is one of the best methods to find the cheapest rates for car insurance. Especially if you search online for Kanetix insurance quotes, you will be able to see which insurance provider in Canada offers the most affordable rate of insurance for your vehicle in just a matter of minutes.

Looking out for elderly drivers on the road

My mum didn’t learn to drive until her late thirties. Up until then she was either too scared or couldn’t see the point (she say the latter and I suspect the former), but as soon as she passed her test and my parents bought a little red Rover, she fell in love with it. In the end, I think she actually proved herself to be a better driver than my dad, she definitely had a better sense of direction, but that wasn’t the important thing. The really good thing that earning to drive did for my mum was giver her a sense of freedom. Now that she’s past her sixty fourth birthday, I think we’re both worried she’ll have to give that freedom up soon.

Back in the eighties, my parents decided they didn’t want to be in the centre of town anymore and they decided to move out to the suburbs. And while they knew they’d make the right choice, and I’m grateful that I got to grow up in a small town with plenty of grass and play parks, but I know my mum found it difficult to be somewhere out of the swing of things at first. Finally, after realising there was no way the bus service would be good enough for her to rely on, she decided to learn how to drive.

Some of my favourite memories of childhood are of me sitting in the passenger seat beside her as she drove us to do the shopping or for a day out with my little bother in the back. She used to sing to us, and later along to the radio. These days, my mum is still driving (and still singing), but we’re starting to think that her days might be numbered.

At the moment, she’s still very good behind the wheel and her eyesight is very decent for someone her age and to be honest, I think that left to her own devices she’d be safe on the roads for a long time to come. However, more and more often we’ve been noticing a negative attitude form other drivers. I think a lot of people assume that just because she’s past a certain age, she’ll be a menace on the road. Which is a real shame.

There’s been some controversy about things like compulsory extra driving tests for pensioners in the last few years, with some people - like race car driver Stirling Moss coming out in favour of it - and other folks, such as the RAC, saying it’s not a good idea.

After a bit of a ponder over it, I actually think it’d be a good idea. If everyone knew my mum had been passed as fit to still be driving, maybe they’d be more courteous to her. The only thing I think would be a problem is the cost,  have you seen how much learning to drive costs?, but if that could be subsidised or lowered for pensioners, I think it could be a positive step.

For the time being though I’d just like people to let my mum enjoy her last few years of driving, she’s careful on the roads and pays her car insurance just like everyone else - so let her make the most of it please!

How to Write an Awesome Facebook Advertisement for Your Blog

Even if you’re not an active user, if you haven’t heard of Facebook, you must have been living under a rock for the past few years. Since its creation in 2003, Facebook has quickly become one of the world’s largest networking and social media websites in the world. A lot of times Facebook is used for pleasure, providing a fun and innovative way to use today’s technology to keep in touch with friends and loved ones. What many businesses and entrepreneurs fail to take advantage of are the advertising powers that Facebook can provide. It’s not just a social network- it’s a place where every business can branch out and reach millions of potential clients or customers.

If you’re familiar with Facebook at all, you may have noticed (and even clicked on a few) of the advertisements present on your homepage and profile. Businesses of all kinds are finding that utilizing this popular social outlet to advertise their services or products can be very fruitful. But with all of these other competitors out there getting the same idea, how are you supposed to ensure that your ad gets more interest than all of the rest? The trick is in writing an awesome ad that is going to grab even the most internet- challenged user’s attention. This is also really helpful when you’re trying to generate traffic for your website or blog. Pitching the right Facebook ad can get people frequenting your blog much faster than other possible methods. But how do you write the perfect ad for your blog?

Captivate your Audience Appropriately

Facebook monitors all of its advertisements and checks them for true statements, accuracy and even grammar. If you’re using slang terms, insulting anyone or anything or WRITING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS (the equivalent of yelling at someone in person!) your ad will probably not last very long on the site, so you’ll want to make sure that your ad is honest, to the point and in proper English. Come up with a phrase that describes what it is that you do or what you’re trying to sell and make the reader want to click your advertisement to learn more. For example, “Train that dog right- the first time!” would be a great lead-in to a landmark blog page containing dog training articles and posts.

Market to Key Demographics

When you create your Facebook ad, you’re given options regarding your target demographic and audience. Take advantage of these tools and try to reach people of whatever age, sex, religion, etc. that you think are going to find your business or product useful. For example, if your blog is about hairstyling, you probably will want to rule out middle-aged men as part of your target audience. Of course, to each their own (there might just be some middle-aged men that are passionate about hair design!)- but you’ll be more successful if you are able to predict who your general audience is and try to market mostly to them.

Don’t Forget to Keep it Light and Fun

People are typically on Facebook for entertainment purposes. They want to play games, catch up with friends and family and look at things that are interest to them. If you get too serious with your blog advertisement, it might not get a lot of attention. You don’t want to act like you’re trying to educate others, but rather entertain them. So the more whimsical and creative your ad is, the more likely people will want to click- and visit your very fascinating blog!

Crafting a great advertisement may take a bit of time but taking that time will help you to create an effective advertisement that will be worth the money spent on advertising. Give it a try for yourself and you'll be amazed at the results you achieve!

The Origin of Big Names

There are many companies / brands / products whose names were derived from strange circumstances/things/happenings.
Google
The name started as a joke boasting about the amount of information the search-engine would be able to search. It was originally named ‘Googol’, a word for the number represented by 1 followed by 100 zeros. After founders- Stanford graduate students Sergey Brin and Larry Page presented their project to an angel investor, they received a cheque made out to ‘Google’ …thus the name.
Apple Computers
It was the favorite fruit of founder Steve Jobs. He was three months late in filing a name for the business, and he threatened to call his company Apple Computers if the other colleagues didn’t suggest a better name by 5 O’clock that evening.
Hotmail
Founder Jack Smith got the idea of accessing e-mail via the web from a computer anywhere in the world. When Sabeer Bhatia came up with the business plan for the mail service, he tried all kinds of names ending in ‘mail’ and finally settled for hotmail as it included the letters “html” – the programming language used to write web pages. It was initially referred to as HoTMaiL with selective uppercasing.
Yahoo!
The word was invented by Jonathan Swift and used in his book ‘Gulliver’s Travels’. It represents a person who is repulsive in appearance and action and is barely human. Yahoo! Founders Jerry Yang and David Filo selected the name because they considered themselves yahoos.
Microsoft
Coined by Bill Gates to represent the company that was devoted to MICROcomputer SOFTware. Originally christened Micro-Soft, the ‘-’ was removed later on.
Mercedes
This was actually the financier’s daughter’s name.
Adobe
This came from name of the river Adobe Creek that ran behind the house of founder John Warnock.

CISCO
It is not an acronym as popularly believed. It is short for San Francisco .
Compaq
This name was formed by using COMp, for computer, and PAQ to denote a small integral object.

Hewlett Packard
Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard tossed a coin to decide whether the company they founded would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett.
Intel
Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore wanted to name their new company ‘ Moore Noyce’but that was already trademarked by a hotel chain so they had to settle for an acronym of INTegrated ELectronics.
Motorola
Founder Paul Galvin came up with this name when his company started manufacturing radios for cars. The popular radio company at the time was called Victrola.
ORACLE
Larry Ellison and Bob Oats were working on a consulting project for the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency). The code name for the project was called Oracle (the CIA saw this as the system to give answers to all questions or something such). The project was designed to help use the newly written SQL code by IBM. The project eventually was terminated but Larry and Bob decided to finish what they started and bring it to the world. They kept the name Oracle and created the RDBMS engine. Later they kept the same name for the company.
Sony
It originated from the Latin word ‘sonus’ meaning sound, and ‘sonny’ a slang used by Americans to refer to a bright youngster.
SUN
Founded by 4 Stanford University buddies, SUN is the acronym for Stanford University Network. Andreas Bechtolsheim built a microcomputer; Vinod Khosla recruited him and Scott McNealy to manufacture computers based on it, and Bill Joy to develop a UNIX-based OS for the computer.

Is Osama Bin Ladin's corpse picture FAKE ???

Osama bin Laden corpse photo is fake

Image of bloodied man picked up by British newspapers has been circulating online for two years

An image purporting to show Osama bin Laden’s bloody corpse
An image purporting to show Osama bin Laden's bloody corpse, right, is a composite of two separate images, left and centre. Photograph: twitpic
An image apparently showing a dead Osama bin Laden broadcast on Pakistani television and picked up by British newspaper websites is a fake. The bloodied image of a man with matted hair and a blank, half-opened eye has been circulating on the internet for the past two years. It was used on the front pages of the Mail, Times, Telegraph, Sun and Mirror websites, though swiftly removed after the fake was exposed on Twitter. It appears the fake picture was initially published by the Middle East online newspaper themedialine.org on 29 April 2009, with a warning from the editor that it was "unable to ascertain whether the photo is genuine or not". Daily Mail publishes fake Osama bin Laden picture

The Daily Mail was one of the newspaper websites to publish the fake picture of Osama bin Laden's body. Since then, however, the image has been claimed as genuine on a number of conspiracy forums and used to substantiate claims that the terrorist responsible for the 9/11 bombings had been killed. The image is based on a genuine photograph of Bin Laden taken in 1998 and used by the Reuters news agency. Check out this video

FUNNY FACEBOOK STORY- HILARIOUS !!!! =D

The 76-year-old woman walked down the hallway of Clearview Addictions Clinic, searching for the right department. She passed signs for the “Heroin Addiction Department (HAD),” the “Smoking Addiction Department (SAD)” and the “Bingo Addiction Department (BAD).”
Then she spotted the department she was looking for: “Facebook Addiction Department (FAD).”
It was the busiest department in the clinic, with about three dozen people filling the waiting room, most of them staring blankly into their Blackberries and iPhones.
A twenty-something man was prone on the floor, his face buried in his hands, while a curly-haired woman comforted him.
“Don’t worry. It’ll be all right.”
“I just don’t understand it. I thought my update was LOL-worthy, but none of my friends even clicked the ‘like’ button.”
“How long has it been?”
“Almost five minutes. That’s like five months in the real world.”
The 76-year-old woman waited until her name was called, then followed the receptionist into the office of Alfred Zulu, Facebook Addiction Counselor.
“Please have a seat, Edna,” he said with a warm smile. “And tell me how it all started.”
“Well, it’s all my grandson’s fault. He sent me an invitation to join Facebook. I had never heard of Facebook before, but I thought it was something for me, because I usually have my face in a book.”
“How soon were you hooked?”
“Faster than you can say ‘create a profile.’ I found myself on Facebook at least eight times each day — and more times at night. Sometimes I’d wake up in the middle of the night to check it, just in case there was an update from one of my new friends in India . My husband didn’t like that. He said that friendship is a precious thing and should never be outsourced.”
“What do you like most about Facebook?”
“It makes me feel like I have a life. In the real world, I have only five or six friends, but on Facebook, I have 674. I’m even friends with Juan Carlos Montoya.”
“Who’s he?”
“I don’t know, but he’s got 4,000 friends, so he must be famous.”
“Facebook has helped you make some connections, I see.”
“Oh yes. I’ve even connected with some of the gals from high school — I still call them ‘gals.’ I hadn’t heard from some of them in ages, so it was exciting to look at their profiles and figure out who’s retired, who’s still working, and who’s had some work done. I love browsing their photos and reading their updates. I know where they’ve been on vacation, which movies they’ve watched, and whether they hang their toilet paper over or under. I’ve also been playing a game with some of them.”
“Let me guess. Farmville?”
“No, Mafia Wars. I’m a Hitman. No one messes with Edna.”
“Wouldn’t you rather meet some of your friends in person?”
“No, not really. It’s so much easier on Facebook. We don’t need to gussy ourselves up. We don’t need to take baths or wear perfume or use mouthwash. That’s the best thing about Facebook — you can’t smell anyone. Everyone is attractive, because everyone has picked a good profile pic. One of the gals is using a profile pic that was taken, I’m pretty certain, during the Eisenhower Administration. “
“What pic are you using?”
“Well, I spent five hours searching for a profile pic, but couldn’t find one I really liked. So I decided to visit the local beauty salon.”
“To make yourself look prettier?”
“No, to take a pic of one of the young ladies there. That’s what I’m using.”
“Didn’t your friends notice that you look different?”
“Some of them did, but I just told them I’ve been doing lots of yoga.”
“When did you realize that your Facebooking might be a problem?”
“I realized it last Sunday night, when I was on Facebook and saw a message on my wall from my husband: ‘I moved out of the house five days ago. Just thought you should know.’”
“What did you do?”
“What else? I unfriended him of course!”

Self Appraisal- Eye Opening and Inspiring !!!

A little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store and dialed a number.

The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:
Boy : “Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman : (at the other end of the phone line) “I already have someone to cut my lawn.”
Boy : “Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price than the person who cuts your lawn now.”
Woman : I’m very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.
Boy : (with more perseverance) “Lady, I’ll even sweep the floor and the stairs of your house for free.
Woman : No, thank you.
With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.
Store Owner : “Son… I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.”
Boy : “No thanks,
Store Owner : But you were really pleading for one.
Boy : No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!

Policeman and the Lawyer – Great Conversation

If you ever testify in court, you might wish you could have been as sharp as this policeman. He was being cross-examined by a defense attorney during a felony trial. The lawyer was trying to undermine the police officer’s credibility…
Q: ‘Officer — did you see my client fleeing the scene?’
A: ‘No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender, running several blocks away.’
Q: ‘Officer — who provided this description?’
A: ‘The officer who responded to the scene.’
Q: ‘A fellow officer provided the description of this so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?’
A: ‘Yes, sir. With my life.’
Q: ‘With your life? Let me ask you this then officer. Do you have a room where you change your clothes in preparation for your daily duties?’
A: ‘Yes sir, we do!’
Q: ‘And do you have a locker in the room?’
A: ‘Yes sir, I do.’
Q: ‘And do you have a lock on your locker?’
A: ‘Yes sir.’
Q: ‘Now why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officers with your life, you find it necessary to lock your locker in a room you share with these same officers?’
A: ‘You see, sir — we share the building with the court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room.’
The courtroom EXPLODED with laughter, and a prompt recess was called.

God Exists - Inspiring Story !

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said:”I don’t believe that God exists.”
“Why do you say that?” asked the customer. “Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn’t exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children?
If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain.I can’t imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.”The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.
Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barbershop again and he said to the barber:”You know what? Barbers do not exist.”

“How can you say that?” asked the surprised barber.”I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!”

“No!” the customer exclaimed. “Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.”
“Ah, but barbers DO exist! That’s what happens when people do not come to me.”

“Exactly!” affirmed the customer. “That’s the point! God, too, DOES exist! That’s what happens when people do not go to Him and don’t look to Him for help. That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”

Does Geo deserve a ban ?

What do you think ....is GEO to be banned or PEMRA to be blamed ?

Unconditional Love - Eye opener !

A story is told about a US soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam . He called his parents from San Francisco . “Mom and Dad, I’m coming home, but I’ve a favor to ask. I have a friend I’d like to bring home with me.”
“Sure,” they replied, “we’d love to meet him.”

“There’s something you should know the son continued, “he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mine and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us.”
“I’m sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find somewhere to live.”
“No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us.”

“Son,” said the father, “you don’t know what you’re asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we can’t let something like this interfere with our lives. I think you should just come home and forget about this guy. He’ll find a way to live on his own.”

At that point, the son hung up the phone.

The parents heard nothing more from him. A few days later, however, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered something they didn’t know, their son had only one arm and one leg.

The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love those who are good-looking or fun to have around, but we don’t like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would rather stay away from people who aren’t as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are. Thankfully, there’s someone who won’t treat us that way. Someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes us into the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are.

If we could shrink the Earths population

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look something like the following.  There would be:

57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
8 would be Africans
52 would be female
48 would be male
70 would be non-white
30 would be white
70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian

6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all 6 would be from the United States.

80 would live in substandard housing
70 would be unable to read
50 would suffer from malnutrition
(ONE)1 would be near death;
(ONE)1 would be near birth;
(ONE)1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education;
(ONE)1 (yes, only 1) would own a computer.

When one considers our world from such a compressed perspective, the need for acceptance, understanding and education becomes glaringly apparent.
And, therefore . . .

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

As you read this and are reminded how life is in the rest of the world, remember just how blessed you really are!

The Interview - Think Again !

An office manager was given the task of hiring an individual to fill a job opening. After sorting through a stack of resumes he found four people who were equally qualified. He decided to call the four in and ask them one question and their answer would determine who would get the job.

The day came and as the four sat around the conference room table, the interviewer asked, “What is the fastest thing you know of?” Pointing to the man on his right.

The first man replied, ‘A thought. It pops into your head. There’s no forewarning that it’s on the way, it’s just there. A thought is the fastest thing I know of.”"That’s very good!” replied the interviewer. “And now you sir?” he asked the second man.”Hmm..let me see, A blink! It comes and goes and you don’t know it ever happened. A blink is the fastest thing I know of.”"Excellent!” said the interviewer. “The blink of an eye. That’s a very popular cliche’ for speed.”

He turned to the third man who was contemplating his reply.”Well, out at my Dad’s ranch, you step out of the house and on the wall there’s a light switch, when you flip that switch, way out across the pasture the light at the barn comes on in an instant. Turning on a light is the fastest thing I can think of.”The interviewer was very impressed with the third answer and thought he had found his man.”It’s hard to beat the speed of light.”he said.

Turning to the fourth man, he posed the question.”After hearing the three previous answers, It’s obvious to me that the fastest thing known is diarrhea.”"What!?” said the interviewer, stunned by the response.”Oh I can explain.” said the fourth man. “You see, the other day I Wasn’t feeling so well and ran for the bathroom. But, before I could think, blink or turn on the light, I’d dirty my pants!”

He got the job!

Moral: To out-smart others in a Job Interview, be creative, innovative & think out of the Box.

Money is yours, but the Resources belong to the Society – Moral Story!

This may or may not be a True Story, but it gives us a very important Lesson in life.

Germany is a highly industrialised country. It produces top brands like Benz, BMW, Siemens etc. The nuclear reactor pump is made in a small town in this country. In such a country, many will think its people lead a luxurious life. At least that was my impression before my study trip.

When I arrived at Hamburg , my colleagues who work in Hamburg arranged a welcome party for me in a restaurant. As we walked into the restaurant, we noticed that a lot of tables were empty. There was a table where a young couple was having their meal. There were only two dishes and two cans of drinks on the table. I wondered if such simple meal could be romantic.
There were a few old ladies on another table. When a dish is served, the waiter would distribute the food for them, and they would finish every bit of the food on their plates.

We did not pay much attention to them, as we were looking forward to the dishes we ordered. As we were hungry, our local colleague ordered more food for us. As the restaurant was quiet, the food came quite fast. Since there were other activities arranged for us, we did not spend much time dining. When we left, there was still about one third of unconsumed food on the table.
When we were leaving the restaurant, we heard someone calling us. We noticed the old ladies in the restaurant were talking about us to the restaurant owner. When they spoke to us in English, we understood that they were unhappy about us wasting so much food. We immediately felt that  they were really being too busybody.

“We paid for our food, it is none of your business how much food we left behind,” my colleague Gui told the old ladies. The old ladies were furious. One of them immediately took her hand phone out and made a call to someone. After a while, a man in uniform claimed to be an officer from the Social Security organisation arrived. Upon knowing  what the dispute was, he issued us a 50 Euro fine. We all kept quiet. The local colleague took out a 50 Euro note and repeatedly apologized to the officer.
The officer told us in a stern voice,

“ORDER WHAT YOU CAN CONSUME, MONEY IS YOURS BUT RESOURCES BELONG TO THE SOCIETY. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS IN THE WORLD WHO ARE FACING SHORTAGE OF RESOURCES. YOU HAVE  NO REASON TO WASTE RESOURCES.”
